What is FPHL?

FPHL or Female Pattern Hair Loss affects up to 50% off women. Hair loss is usually evenly distributed unlike hair loss in men, which has an "M" shaped distribution. Declining estrogen or increased androgens such as testosterone are primarily responsible. Other factors such as stress may play a role as well. Thankfully, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) have demonstrated efficacy in treating thinning hair. There is no downtime to the procedure. We simply draw a little blood and spin it down in a centrifuge. The platelet-rich layer is injected or micro-needled into the scalp. Growth factors released from platelets and white blood cells promote improved follicular health, which boosts hair growth in as few as 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are required every 4-6 months. Other treatments such as Nutrafol (available at SpaGo MedSpa) taken orally, topical sprays, and HydraFacial Keravive compliment treatments.
